CALIBRATED STONES
are important whenever you need a multiple number of gems of the same look. We will do those in

  • Traditional Shapes
All the shapes you know - the ovals, rounds, emerald cuts, pear shapes, hearts, trilliants, squares etc.
  • The above also as Cab Tops
(as we like to call our buff tops), princess cuts, checker board cuts and sometimes with our own fancy faceting.
  • Fancy Cuts
Some of our signature cuts we will also do in calibrated sizes like our Paisley Shape or the newly developed Cubicle Cut©.

SINGLE STONES
These are the true gems which usually will be one of a kind, truly unique. Most likely there will be no identical gem on this planet, just like there are no two identical humans.
They can be cut in Traditional Cuts. All of those of course in meticulous faceting, perfect proportions to make every gem special.
Or as contemporary interpretations of Traditional Cuts. Please browse in our gemstone gallery to see how the look of a traditionally shaped gemstone will change when creative cutters will facet it in a different way.

FANCY SHAPES
And there are the so called Fancy Shapes. The cutting of those has an at least 20 year long tradition with us. Renowned gemstone designers like Philipp Hobein and Michaela Müller laid the groundwork for a line that is permanently updated and has brought forth so many designs which became a classic like our Lips, Stars or the Wave Cut to name a couple.

SIGNATURE STONES
These classic Fancy Shapes are very distinctive. Their shapes are timeless yet they are a component of many a contemporary jewelry design. We call them our Signature Stones as they are so popular that you will find them with many jewelry lines around the world. There is the above mentioned Paisley Shape, our #095 and the Soft Heart Shape for example.

MATCHING PAIRS AND SUITES
Needless to mention that we carry a large selection of matching pairs and suites of all sorts of materials, cuts and shapes.

CARVINGS AND OBJECTS
Idar-Oberstein is home to some of the finest carvers in the world. Most of them are specializing in particular carving techniques and/or particular types of motives. We have developed long term relationships with many of these individuals which enables us to cover the whole range of carvings - no mater what technique is involved or whatever the customer commissions us to do. We will provide the necessary rough stones and will get the right expert to do the job.

  • Cameos and Intaglios
We supply cameos with traditional or contemporary motives, flat and shaded or in an extremely high plastic look. The material can be opaque or transparent. Most of the intaglio carvings we do are cut into fine transparent stones and depict motives from ancient intaglio carvings of Greek or Roman mythology.

  • Plastic carvings of animals, floral motives
As great as there is difference between the look of a mediocre faceted stone and one cut by a master cutter there is also a world of difference in the expression of figurine carvings done by a mass producer and by an expert carver.

  • Integral parts of jewelry according to customer's designs
The combination of various cutting and carving techniques is sometimes needed to produce gemstones of a particular shape and look to blend in with the jewelry design. We have the experience and craftsmanship needed to advise you what is technically possible and execute your design idea in the best possible manner.
